Minimalist fashion is becoming increasingly popular, and rightly so. Minimalist individuals look chic, fashionable, and effortlessly beautiful. You’ve probably heard of minimalist art, but how about minimalist fashion? Minimalist fashion is defined by one major principle: keep it simple! Streamlined shapes, a small selection of colors and even a bare minimum (gasp!) amount of clothing in your closet. Simplicity is the key to pinpointing this style.
Those wispy, neutral-filled wardrobes are one aspect of minimalist fashion, specifically minimalist fashion as an aesthetic. Similar to minimalism as a décor style, where you’ll find nary a tchotchke on the white furniture in the room with white walls. If you’ve ever looked at your closet and thought, “I have nothing to wear!”, that probably isn’t the case. Rather, you’re most likely plagued by decision fatigue or the paradox of choice—the more choices you have to make, the harder it is to make a decision, and the less confident you are in the decision you ultimately make.
But what if that didn’t happen anymore?
What if every single day, you opened your closet and saw only things you absolutely love so that no matter what you picked, it would make you feel confident, amazing, and unequivocally you? That is what a minimal approach to fashion is all about.
TO COLOR, OR NOT TO COLOR
One misconception about the minimalist wardrobe? Getting rid of color! Going minimalist doesn’t mean draining your closet of your favorite hues. When you’ve selected your bright color, be sure to pair it with a more neutral base, like dark wash jeans or black, math with a beige hat. It will be soften and add a touch of your style.
Just like a capsule wardrobe declutters your life, a minimalist outfit declutters your look. Have fun getting back to basics in the chicest way possible!
